Taxpayers Relief for Families

Joe Robach knows that in this challenging economy, working families and people on fixed incomes are struggling to make ends meet on a daily basis. Now more than ever we need to continue to ease the burden on taxpayers and provide more opportunities to help New Yorkers out of work find new jobs. Joe Robach will continue to fight to ensure people have opportunities available to provide for their families.

  • Joe Robach voted for a new middle class tax cut that will bring middle class income taxes down to the lowest rate since 1948. When fully phased in, this tax cut will provide an average savings of $700 per taxpayer every year.
  • Voted for a two percent property tax cap to stop out of control state spending
  • Helped create the original STAR school property tax relief program, and initiated the STAR rebate check program after it was eliminated in 2009.

Fighting for Upstate’s Fair Share

For too long, upstate New York residents have not received the same resources or support downstate New York residents. Joe Robach has led the fight to help bring regional balance and parity to upstate residents and families.

  • Advocated for transportation funding parity in the State Budget, resulting in $27.1 billion in state aid for statewide road, bridge and transportation infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Voted for three straight years of record investments in the state’s Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs) to help local governments fund local road and bridge projects. This funding not only helps improve driver safety, it helps create good paying construction jobs for the hard working men and women of our state.

Expanding Business and Economic Development

Small businesses are the backbone of our state and our economy, and serve as the largest job providers for those who live in our communities. We need to support employers by doing all we can to help them remain here and grow, as well as attract others to locate here. Joe Robach will continue to support job creating opportunities for local businesses and initiatives to help attract new business to our community.

  • Has worked actively to expand economic development opportunities in the Greater Rochester Community as a member of the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council.

The future of New York State is dependent upon providing our children with improved schools and a better learning environment. Joe Robach has consistently voted to improve public school funding for Rochester-area School Districts, and provide them with the most up to date technology to enhance the classroom experience for students.Voted to eliminate the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA), which was taking millions of dollars from our local schools every year.

Protecting Our Neighborhoods

Joe Robach understands what is needed to keep our families and neighborhoods safe. He strongly believes that we should always feel safe in our homes and in our neighborhoods. Joe will continue to support local law enforcement and public safety so we don’t have to worry when our children are out at night. As a member of the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, Joe Robach heard first hand testimony of the horrors these drugs can cause on families and communities, and voted to enact tougher laws to fight this statewide epidemic.

  • Sponsored legislation to further protect victims of domestic violence from their attackers.
  • Supported tougher penalties against those who commit sexual crimes against minors.
  • Voted to approve $166 million in funding to strengthen prevention, treatment, recovery and education services to combat the rising usage of heroin and opioids in our community.

Advocating for Seniors

With a growing statewide population of seniors, Joe Robach knows that it is important to ensure they have the resources necessary to continue living healthy and prosperous lives.

  • Voted to fully fund New York’s EPIC program at $131.5 million to help cover the prescription drug needs of our state’s seniors.
  • Supported measures to stop elder abuse, further protecting vulnerable senior citizens in our community.
  • Increased access to the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) to help seniors and families in need pay for rising energy costs.

Standing Up for Veterans

The son of a Korean War-era veteran, Joe Robach knows that the freedoms and liberties we have are thanks to the courageous efforts of our veterans and active military members. Veterans in the Rochester community know that Joe Robach is fighting for them in Albany.

  • Co-Sponsored legislation for service-disabled veterans owned businesses, creating a six percent state contract set-aside; ensuring service-disabled veterans are able to compete for millions of dollars in state contracts.
  • Fought for additional funding in the State Budget for the Veterans Outreach Center in Rochester so they can continue to help veterans in need.
  • Co-sponsored legislation that will allow all honorably discharged veterans who are members of a state retirement system to buy service credit for up to three years of military service.
